Romans 12 states “Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you”
When I look at this scripture, I used to think that I shouldn’t think highly of myself, really I thought so! It took some rereading the scripture and thinking thoroughly about what Paul meant when he wrote this…man Paul is a deep man.
You see if you slowly read that verse, what stands out for me is the words “THAN YOU OUGHT” and “In accordance with the faith God has given you”. We have the right to think highly of ourselves reason being that we are extraordinary people who are gifted in extraordinary ways by the gracious Holy Spirit. You an ambassador of heaven, that is more reason for you to start thinking highly of yourself.
Think of what the Bible says about you:
You are salt of the earth -Matthew 5:13
You are the light of the world -(Matthew 5:14)
You have been chosen & appointed to bear fruit (John 15:16)
We are Christmas ambassadors (2Cor5:20)
We are the branches of the true vine, channels of His life (John 15:5)
You, yes you! You are highly blessed & anointed with God’s favour.
Yes the famous quote from the movie Coach Carter, that will encourage you from today onwards to think highly of yourself:
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are born to manifest the glory of God within us. It is not just in some of us, it’s in everyone, and as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do t b email same. As we liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
