Privacy on Social Media
Social Networks are great for allowing people to share posts (thoughts, interests, pictures and videos etc.) with friends. But you really don’t want to share your posts with the entire world now do you? I know at times you might feel like you have nothing to hide, but you must be aware of the fact that advertisers, spammers, and cyber-stalkers (Hackers) can view your non-private posts, which can lead to some security threats, most commonly identity fraud and those annoying sales calls that keep draining the living life out of your phone.
I went through some of my Facebook Friends profiles (Stalker alert lol), and realized that 70% of their posts can be viewed by the public! The entire world at that! which means anyone with a smartphone can track your everyday online movements. This raised concern as I realized that some people might not be aware that privacy settings are available to optionally crank up the privacy level on their accounts.
If you haven’t thought about the importance of your privacy on social networks, now would be a good time to go to your profile and adjust your privacy settings accordingly. This will allow you to have control over who can see what on your profile. Otherwise you might have to ask Mama Baleka Mbete to call Security to help eject out all those spammers.
