“Hip-Hop isn’t just music. It also a spiritual movement of blacks! You can’t just call hip-hop a trend”. – Lauryn Hill

I was part of a culture, was there when Le club was fire! When Mizchief was dropping lines from his hot album for free at the food court in Carlton Centre!

I was part of a culture, was there when Snazz was always opening each song he did with “I am the host with the most”, that gal who was always dancing solo, high and shit at Le Club, Hope u made it! *Damn*

I was part of a culture, when Hymphatic Thaps was always shouting out his undying love “to my gal Tshidi” when Omen went up the stage to try and rap and we was like “nah G!” and he met Spyke and did that hot jingle for Rude boy!

I was part of a culture, when Nthabi, Godessa and Ghetto Luv where representing the females and holding their own in the game! *and then they say girls can’t rap*

I was part of a culture, when being from Maftown meant the Jozi cats didn’t know that Maftown had a hot Rap scene! Yes, I was that girl standing up for my hometown!Tricks “Mathaithai” we remember you dogg! You did a lot for Motswako, your rap shows were the shit!*hehehe Nako tsa Bafihlile papa* Which is why I am proud of where Motswako is and I will forever be! #teamMaftown but more so #teamSA! I know what it took to get here, to get kids loving and appreciating local! Skwatta and HHP, we thank you!

phatI was part of a culture, when YMAG was the hip hop mag to have and rap activity Jam was flaming, and my friend won three of those sprite trophies?! *He is that hot!* when MC Fat Boy was hot! *Yeah! I was part of that culture* Boy, was I part of that culture when he joined with 340ml to form Tumi and the Volume!

ACSAI’ve always been a hip hop fan and will always be part of the people being vocal about it and being thrilled about its growth, I will always be that gal telling the MD of a multinational company, how these hip hop heads from my hometown are hot and inspirational!

Not everyone can be the main player in Hip hop but it took a lot of players to get SA Hip Hop here…..
