So it’s payday today and I was busy doing my June planning for how I’m going to spend less this month and analysing my actual May spend vs what I had forecasted. As I was busy doing my spending analysis It hit me that I should share with you all how my monthly budget planning and the variance analysis of the actual spend to the budget looks like.

Being a Financial Analyst I do a lot of variance analysis and what I have seen is when you keep track of the overspends you have on each line item and make notes on why you overspending you eventually start being aware when a new month hits of the things that cause you to sway off your financial lane.

Its a normal excel sheet so anyone with a smartphone, tablet or computer can create one. You may use this as a template. Go ahead, the winter is coming!!
