Errr…. Ke Flabba!!
“Drop a 16 like a Siyaya when it crashes”
Rest In Peace to a genius that changed the game and made kasi rap cool, paving the way for many others to borrow and evolve the style. He gave us Bhu Fasi, Isbhamu Somdoko and the remix which featured the whole hip hop act at the time, I do not remember anyone ever being able to bring that many artists onto one song. A genius in his craft, a lyrical comedian and punch line maniac, he will forever remain immortal through the music he left for us and the kasi rap styles he influenced. we will forever treasure your contributions to local music!!
“Kule rap ngathi akusene order. So ngivula i-Boarding School angazi noma niyangithola. What I’m trying to say is kune zinja ezizo ‘bhoda’ “
Below is a verse from my favourite Flabba song from the album Nkuli vs Flabba.
The whole concept of the song revolves around how he loved his beer, especially Black Label. The problem starts when he’s unable to find a cold beer around the bottle stores in his Kasi, most of the time his favorite beverage is out of stock so he decides to write a letter to SAB (South African Breweries) to complain about this. He gets no reply for a while and decides to leave the country and go stay in India. just as he’s packed up to leave, his mom tells him about a letter she received. And sure enough it was from SAB and it read:-
“Dear Nkuli flabbadacious whatever your name is, every month we will be giving you about 15 beer cases, this is because we think your letter was charming, now drink responsible your darling Carling!”
Flabba: Leave My Beers Alone
1:30 sunday afternoon I should have woken up sooner ga o ka ntholla beer ebatang sweetie nka go suna
ngikhiphe lento ya izolo and feel a bit better
SAB ya mphoqa so i wrote them a letter:-“Dear SAB
I’m a Black Label drinking guy, so how about you hook me up with your supply
cause trouble you go throw to find a cold beer its really unfair ngoba mina angiphuzi i tee
Ngibuyespotini baba uphimbho womile khala bo “sorry baba uyazi ama black a pheleli”
Now how would you do if you were in my shoes noma ishisa i grand mfethu

Legends don’t die, they get chubby and inspire the game. so in this case death falls flat like- BHU FATSHE
