.From the day I heard about the bring back our girls hashtag (#bringbackourgirls) I was puzzled, who still performs such acts in this day and age, caught up in my own reality I had lost touch with the imperfections that are happening in the real world.

Even for the fact that I heard about this from an American source; Nigeria is right here, why couldn’t I gain access to such horrifying news from The Nigerian brother who cuts my hair every week, or breaking news on SABC 1, or even a Presidential address from the Zuma camp?? These were the questions that came to mind, do we as Africans care about one another? Troubled in my mind I missioned on to find out from my Nigerian friends as to how they dealing with the issue, even the recent burnings, It then hit me that no one really gave a fuck, it’s a do you, I do me type of environment. People too caught up with their lives to care about their own.

Then came the horrifying news last week about the recent Boko Haram acts. I myself posted a picture of support but that’s where it ended. A close friend of mine from Nigeria tells me most of the politicians in the country are too busy campaigning to land a helping hand. Media coverage around the whole issue was minimal I can imagine, not really a big TV fan but I’m assuming, I know more about the Paris bombings than I do about my neighbour’s troubles. Do I give a fuck? Or has the greed that’s evident in our politicians spread to all the citizens so much so that we all wanna built our own little Nkandla, put fencing over it and act as if we do not see the poverty stricken neighbor begging for some ‘change’ at the gate?

It seems a bit silly but it then hit me, Taken 3 recently came out and my eyes lit up every time I thought about downloading and watching it, and then the question came to me, if it was Liam Neeson’s daughter that Boko Haram Kidnapped… what would happen?

We all know Boko Haram would experience hell on earth…. All so fictional but that highlights the pure untainted unlimited genuine unconditional love of a father. Do I as the father of a nation cancel out plans to visit a mourning village because it’s too risky? Do I turn a blind eye on it all because I have a campaign to run? Do I keep enriching my family while a whole country bleeds of unemployment that leads to inhumane acts of looting a fellow brother’s hustle? (Soweto)

Imagine the type of community environment filled with love we could have if we all gave a little fuck about our neighbors, that Roseto type of community.

I might not have all the answers to this questions but I do know there’s a higher power watching over us, God bless Africa and all its ills. Evil be not proud.
