Watch the people in your boat; some may be rolling the boat while others may be drilling holes under it! be weary of your circle!
It had been a while since I saw this dude, so to make the setting perfect for a good old catch up we hit the bar and made sure we got the front seat, you know right next to the barman so we get first hand service. The beer always taste amazing when you by the bar. This time around I was not pulling any of that cheese-boy Hunters dry stunts, got me a cold ass castle draft with a note instructing the barman to keep them coming soon as we ran low.
It was then when he started to tell me about all his dreams and ambitions that had no backing that I immediately got the idea that I was gonna pay the bill one man. Ever since I had known him, he had always spoken about his dreams and how he’s gonna be balling pretty soon. Never really understood why he felt the need to qualify himself to me by telling me all his ambitions, like I was supposed to be forward looking and treat him any differently than I did at that point in time.
Knowing I was on a budget I was slowly downing my drinks, but this dude was not having it, he was calling round after round. And as the drafts started blending in, the stories piled up, almost like he owed me an explanation of why he hasn’t gotten to where I was or where he wanted to be. We all allowed to dream but there comes a point where we have to be realistic with ourselves and get the basics first, the groundwork, attain that discipline and managerial skills necessary to start our own empire, such skills are learned with application and practical experience, not via multiple seasons of a Series.
Long story short, I eventually as imagined paid the bill one man, not a single glance at the bill, not even help with the tip. Forgot to mention that it was a Sunday, right after that, dude suggests that we go to a club and get some bad bitches, mind you I have work on Monday. The first thing that came to my mind was who is gonna pay for the drinks wherever we going? Then it hit me, of all the positive stuff he was talking, he had never once showed any form of action that would lead to their accomplishment, this dude was complacency hidden in plain sight, all we ever did together was talk girls and getting wasted.

He most definitely had the credentials of dreamers in the Kasi, you know the dudes that will tell you a wealth of bull of how they going to get rich or explain why they haven’t gotten to where they wanna be? The reason is always due to what someone did not do for them. As Larry Winget would say, if you not where you wanna be it’s your own gawd damn fault.
Then it hit me again, at what point do you say this is the final straw? At what point do you tell your friend that you breaking up the friendship because chilling with him is fucking up with your potential?
You become your environment, careful who you spend your time with, always reassess the value you add to people and vise versa. The #addingvalueapproach my nigga…
