In the rise of the new developments that saw the capital city in flames and all the surrounding townships declared a danger zone I think it is important that we contemplate carefully the stability of South Africa and the possibility of a political war.
The political party in-fighting of the ruling party saw the country going up in flames and many people dead, this mind you is the fight of people who are from the same political home. It is clear that power is central to this war, some seek to gain power and some seek to retain power. I am in no position to comment about internal party politics but it is evident however that South Africa is at a higher risk of going through exactly what many African countries went through especially when the revolutionary parties lost power to opposition parties.
Should opposition parties prepare for war if they win the elections? The ANC cannot be trusted to hand over power peacefully they cannot do it internally what makes us think they can do it externally. More worryingly is the war readiness of the ANC, as we count down to this year’s local elections we also hope no more lives will be lost.
