The Bargain… By Oscarine Latoya Malabele

Mandela-de-Klerk-640x324
The resolve had nil to do with equity
The bargain was made to settle the fury of the indigent
And to protect the prerogative of the advantaged, nothing to do with impartiality
This accepted resolution is a hazard
The danger of disparity still enrages the watching, those basking in lacking not working, not gaining
Brewing is the ugly rage of envy and the heart of hate, unscrewing compassionate screws
Beware; the wrath will soon be an outburst
Don’t say you were untold

The economy’s emancipation remains pale and blossoming blooms on brown soil
Those with confiscated minds remain ploughed out of the gift of the wealth of the land
Plugged into the dependence of selling brands to our own brats
Is this why Bantu was smashed out of life?
So as to settle without confrontation or unity
Even if the bulletins mute the realism of how butchery has worn out pale for black, we know

Nevertheless, in the meanness of time
We will continue to accept the state of our fate
Especially since I am nourished, well-bred and smart enough
I too continue to comply with the bargain for the sake of my freely born
The silent sacrifice is a worthy doom if they have freed minds
I do so unconsciously knowing that the life of dishonesty hangs on a rope
Cradling and awaiting its death
