When A Movement That Liberated You Turns Into An Oppressive Government

As the whole world looks at Zimbabwe, we have to acknowledge it’s about time, Zimbabweans have endured the worst not even death threatens them anymore. The government led by President Robert Mugabe has lost touch with reality, abuse of state resources, and excessive use of power by the police has for years till the recent developments silenced a lot of politicians and activists. But Evan Mawarire and many others say not anymore!

The MDC has for years fought a losing battle; their leaders have been through everything worse than what black leaders went through during apartheid. The controversial re-distribution of land that left a lot of Mugabe cronies more advantaged than the average civilian and the much talked about elections rigging are almost eminent in the minds of everyone when the name Zimbabwe is mentioned.

But all that could be over soon, the wrath of the people might bring justice. Activists are now prepared to be brutally assaulted or jailed for no reason for the sake of their country. One former ZANUPF member shares how and why the ZANUPF led government has failed. Pointing out that they never changed mentality after they became the ruling party, instead they continued using the same excessive force to address every issue like they were still fighting the oppressive government. This in turn turned them into an oppressive government.

The support of all the countries in the southern part of Africa is of utmost importance in this matter. South Africa has managed to be silent almost all the time. But now they really have to pick a side, either pick the truth or Mugabe. We cannot afford a situation where Professional teachers flee a country to work as gardeners’ where professional doctors go for months without pay. Where human rights are being violated but nothing is done or said.

Open Zimbabwe, this will better lives, create jobs and while at it please don’t forget to resign Mr President.
