I know you probably asking “What’s the difference?”… Okay let me break it down for you. First of all wealth will set black people free, because wealth is empowering, wealth can uplift communities from poverty. When a white person gets money, he will build businesses and empower other white people, but when a black guy gets money, he will buy jewelry and cars. Please do not get me wrong, I am not looking down on us black people; this is just an observation I made. The government isn’t doing anything to help those who actually want to start a business and build empires.

Being rich means that you are most likely earning a high income, you are likely earning more than 6-digits to be considered rich. How much of that you invest or save up will dictate how wealthy you ultimately become. Okay let’s take a look at people with prestigious careers that society ‘Values’, you see them: They drive fancy cars, they wear expensive clothing/accessories, they live in fancy neighborhoods with high housing values and taxes, their kids go to private schools and good universities and so on.

Although they seem “upper-life”, most of them are cash-poor and living on the hamster wheel called the rat-race. To fund those lifestyles, they have to work to live. Once they are incapacitated, the whole machine stops working. This is a very dangerous lifestyle to live. Numbers and taxes don’t lie! Every cent they earn is taxed at the maximum tax bracket. Every rand they spend is after-taxes, so they are most likely spending more than they’re earning, therefore most rich people are in debt, therefore being net-negative in net worth, their children won’t qualify for college support so these parent are responsible for everything.

Being rich doesn’t necessarily mean you are wealthy! These two are not one and the same. That’s why you can’t judge a book by its cover. A school teacher/social worker/small spaza shop owner with a solid investing and savings plan could easily be richer than the CEO you just met. I know it may be hard to believe but it is true! I did my research and a lot of Chief Executives are not as wealthy as they are superficially ‘rich’

Just because someone owns stuff, doesn’t mean they are wealthy or they possess “class” or honor. Don’t judge someone by their “career” or “status” or whatever conventional stuff others deem “worthy”. Truly wealthy people come from all walks of earth, different jobs, various age groups and they give us inspiration that: Success doesn’t look the same. Don’t be discouraged if you don’t “seem” like you’re doing as well as others “seem”. Know/think about your personal strategy to wealth and start learning financial budgeting/investing/savings strategies to accelerate your net worth!!
