I speak for myself and a lot of other people who have confessed to this – a lot of us live in our own minds and sometimes that mini sanctuary can lead to the death of you. We fill up our minds with a lot of negative energy (Negativity, self-doubt, low self-esteem, allowing ourselves to be bothered by external/internal voices), social media is full of these negativities and the funny thing is that we have become somewhat meek minded and malleable.
What’s the use of accumulating accolades and achievements when you are not gonna talk about them? One spends 4 years on an honours degree, 4 years that’s 1 460 days, yet you reckon bringing it up or talking highly of it will make you out to be a show-off. One needs to adjust into a habit of speaking highly of one’s self, either alone or even when with friends.
In an age where a lot of voices are harbouring over you with negativity, it becomes more important now that ever to remind yourself on a daily of who you truly are and what you capable of doing. We have long allowed low self-esteem to reign supreme and allowed other people’s insecurities and negative energies to filter into our existence, now they have sipped deep into our insides to an extent that we are now zombies to this simulated feeble energy that is not of our internal making.
What I have done to shut out all these external voices of discouragement and external negative energies is to remind myself on a daily and constantly of who I think and know myself to be. I have done this by creating a list, call it a letter I have written to myself, whenever I feel down or demotivated I take it out and read it to myself – all the greats have done this little trick with immeasurable benefits.
Muhammad Ali said, “I am the GREATEST!!” Kanye said “I’m a genius”, the all the greats have spoken their higher self into existence, who dares to not follow the greats? What is your morning mantra? What letter of encouragement and positivity have you written to yourself? Do not allow low self-esteem to control the overly ambitious and positive outlook you have of yourself.
Below are guidelines of positive notes to write down about yourself and remind yourself daily of these qualities that you innately have.
– I’m a genius
– I’m the greatest
– I can do anything I put my mind and energy to
– There isn’t anything that I cannot do
– Nothing can stop me
– I’m a beast
– I’m smart
– I’m intelligent
– I’m never bothered by negative people and their negative energy
– I was born to be the best / I’m the best at what I do
Feel free to add on to this positive and confidence building list.
